We believe there are valuable learning opportunities beyond the classroom. We integrate opportunities into our children's learning with real-life experience.
History, arts, culture, and sport enable us to connect with opportunities in our local community and the surrounding region to give 'hands-on' learning opportunities to all of our children.
Our proximity to Sydney and Canberra also enables us to provide experiences of a metropolitan and national context.
Artists in action
Opportunities to study and develop a love of the arts are integral to educating our students at Lithgow Public School. Our students can access a range of opportunities beyond the classroom in:
junior and Senior school bands
Aboriginal cultural dance troupes
Sports and competition
Our school values sport and physical activity providing multiple opportunities for students in a range of programs. Our comprehensive program caters to all abilities including such sports as:
minkey (hockey for primary aged students)
Australian Rules Football.
Providing opportunities for students to enjoy and develop their skills is a crucial part of our school sports program. Throughout the year there are school competitions in swimming and athletics where students enjoy healthy competition.
There are also opportunities to represent our school at inter-school sports competitions in a variety of sports including:
Public speaking and debating
Lithgow Public School has a proud tradition of students competing in local public speaking and debating competitions.
Students can compete in a range of public speaking and debating competitions locally and across the state in the Western Challenge and the Premier's Debating Challenge.
