Our extra-curricular highlights
STEM
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) is central to learning from Kindergarten to Year 6. Students explore the natural and made worlds through hands-on activities like 3D design and printing, drones, podcasting, robotics and more, beginning their journey as little engineers and innovators.
They ask questions, test ideas, analyse results and refine designs, building creativity, problem-solving skills and confidence to develop real-world solutions now and into the future.
Creative and performing arts
In Creative and Performing Arts, students explore and express ideas through dance, drama, music and visual arts. They also have opportunities to perform in choirs and take part in eisteddfods, building confidence as young artists and performers while they create, perform, listen and respond.
Each art form has its own language, skills and concepts, with the power to inspire, connect and enrich students’ lives now and into the future.
Sports and Competition
Our school values sport and physical activity, offering a wide range of programs for all abilities. Students can learn and develop skills in sports such as cricket, soccer and netball, with regular opportunities to participate, practise and improve.
Throughout the year, students take part in school swimming and athletics carnivals, enjoying healthy competition and personal achievement. There are also chances to represent our school at inter-school events in sports including netball, soccer, basketball, touch football, rugby league and hockey.
Lithgrow Garden
Stage 2 students are growing their STEM skills by designing a sustainable edible garden. They use Minecraft to plan and map their ideas, then bring them to life in our school grounds. They’ve also created a website to share their garden designs, environmental survey and learning with families and the wider community.
Out in the garden, students get hands-on with planting seeds, watering, weeding and watching their plants grow. They’re thinking like young engineers and problem-solvers, using science, technology and maths to care for a garden that will keep growing into the future.
Excursions and incursions
Excursions and incursions give our students real-world ways to connect with their learning. They might visit local venues, museums and community spaces, or welcome experts, performers and organisations into the school.
These experiences help students see how what they learn in class links to everyday life, building curiosity, confidence and a stronger connection to their community.
