Our little learners program is a Kindergarten transition program which begins in Term 4.
Running for seven weeks, children are exposed to a number of transition activities, helping them learn all about 'big school' and feel safe, comfortable and ready for their new environment.
Parents/carers are also invited to be part of our Information sessions, also designed to help with this transition of a child going into Kindergarten, and help assist with the decision to 'send to school or not'.
An example of these sessions include:
- healthy Lunchboxes, sun safety - Cancer Council
- teacher information about starting school, BestStart assessments and a 'day in Kindergarten'
- CONNECT learning through play and helpful information to do at home to prepare your child/ren for school
- Lithgow BusLines - bus passes, safety, and procedures
Each of these sessions has tailored information to give parents/carers vital information as well as specific school-related information.
At the end of the program, a celebration/graduation ceremony is held for our little learners with a chance to have a meet and greet with teachers.
Using community resources and personnel, from preschools and other organisations, Lithgow Public School has had great feedback on how successful this transition program is in helping children and their families with a smooth and worry-free start to school.
Contact the school for an enrolment form, or for more information.
